The Aberdeen Branch of the Ayr United Supporters’ Club has raised a further £8,000 from its annual quiz night, which will be split between the Football Academy and Alzheimer Scotland.
Donald Stewart, a Director of the Football Academy was delighted to accept the cheque from Dave Smith, Craig Leith and Alistair Gemmell of the Supporters’ Club at half time during Ayr’s recent league game against Raith Rovers.
The money will be used to support the Academy’s Talented Young Footballers’ Programme which has produced first team appearances this season for a number of players, including Jonathan Tiffoney, Ross Robertson and Gareth Armstrong. There are also rising stars such as Robbie Crawford and Mark Shankland waiting in the wings, so the benefit is there to be seen by all.
The Supporters’ Club has now contributed almost £60, 000 to the Academy’s Talented Young Players Programme and Alzheimer Scotland – a magnificent achievement.
