Kilwinning Festival

Ayr United Under 11s (Whites)

Coach David McIntosh took charge of Ayr United Whites as they took on 4 teams on Sunday morning in the Kilwinning festival; Caledonian, Kilwinning, Kilbirnie and Dalry Rovers

Ayr United v Caledonian

Caledonian started the game strongly forcing Jennifer Nicol into three great saves. The Caledonian goalkeeper kicked the ball out to the half way line where Nicole Storie picked it up and hit a great shot from the half way line that just went wide. Caledonian took the lead from a corner kick; the ball was crossed into the box and tapped into the net. Courtney McWhirter then went on a solo run from her own half and had a shot which went just wide. Caledonian started to press again, forcing Jennifer into another save, however the rebound fell to the feet of a Caledonian striker who scored. Nicole dribbled with the ball and ran towards Caledonian team, she beat two players and passed to Abbie McCall, who passed to Samantha Evans, who went on to hit the ball first time to score.

Ayr United v Kilwinning

Ayr started the game well and Nicole, playing up front, had a shot which went just wide. Samantha dribbled with the ball beating one player and passed to Abbie, whose shot went just wide. Kilwinning started to push up but Freya McIntosh and Courtney defended well at the back. Freya broke up a Kilwinning attack which lead to the opening goal. Freya won the ball from the Kilwinning striker and started a nice passing move involving Megan Hall, Courtney and Nicole who played Abbie through to score the only goal of the game.

Ayr v Kilbirnie

Kilbirnie started strongly, one of the Kilbirnie players hit a good shot but Jennifer was there to produce a great save. Jennifer then played the ball up the middle of the field to Abbie who passed to Samantha, who took a shot which hit the post and bounced out. Kilbirnie started to push Ayr back and took the lead with a shot which gave Jennifer no chance. Kilbirnie continued to attack and used their substitutions to their advantage as Ayr didn’t have the luxury of changing their players.

Kilbirnie extended their lead through a corner kick which was turned into the net by one of their players. Abbie then played a great pass to Nicole who beat one player but her shot went just over the bar.

Kilbirnie’s goalkeeper played a long, high ball which fell to a Kilbirnie player who hit it first time, Jennifer managed to get a hand on the ball but it hit the post and went into the net.

Ayr v Dalry Rovers

Ayr started the game well and a great attacking move involving Megan, Abbie, Nicole and Samantha saw Ayr create a great chance, but both Samantha and Nicole were unlucky not to score.

Dalry built an attack down the wing and some good defending from Freya and Courtney broke up the attack initially, however the ball broke to a Dalry player whose shot put them into the lead.

Dalry again attacked down the wing and played the ball into the middle of the box, where an attacker was on hand to put Dalry further ahead. Ayr fatigued as no substitutions were available to them and they couldn’t get back into the game.
