The Academy recently welcomed local nursery schools of South Ayrshire to Somerset Park for a special day of football coaching on the park. The fun day was held on May 24th on Ayr United’s Somerset Park during the week long spell of warm weather which made the day even better for all.
The Nurseries invited were those that the Academy have been working with all year round and the day was used to thank the children with whom Academy Coaches have been working throughout the year.
The children were welcomed to the park by our AUFA coaches Craig Richmond, Scott Agnew and Stuart Watson. The park was split into three sections, with the children playing fun warm up games, being given goal keeping coaching and playing small sided football games on the park.
The event organiser Shaun Ferrie said:
“The day was a fantastic success. All the children who attended really enjoyed themselves and the warm weather made it even better. We received a really positive response from the parents and teachers who came along with the kids. It was great to see the schools that we have been working with all year attend the event. The Academy used it as a thank you to everyone for all the hard work they have put in all year”.
The fun day was part of a week-long part of football events delivered by the Academy, involving local nursery and primary schools from around the local area attending Somerset Park for special coaching sessions and football games.
The Academy Board of Directors would like to thank Ayr United Football Club for allowing the use of Somerset Park and allowing the children a rare opportunity to play on their local professional team’s pitch.
