Prestwick v Ayr United

Early on the game was tight, with most of the game being played in midfield. Prestwick had a couple of opportunities to take the lead early on however a combination of good defending and poor finishing kept the score at 0-0. Eventually Prestwick’s persistence paid off and they went in at half time 2-0 up.

Chantelle Templeton and Cara Graham were threatening the Prestwick defence and had managed to pull them out of shape on a couple of occasions. This allowed wingers, Hannah McSorely and Amy Miller to get into dangerous positions. Ayr started to keep the ball much more and win the ball from Prestwick more often. A direct ball through the middle led to Chantelle latching on to the ball, she used her pace to get away from the Prestwick defence and finished with a shot into the top corner.

The game then started to be played in Prestwick half and minute’s later Ayr had an identical opportunity however the ball was tipped around the post by their keeper. Ayr had some pressure and gained four corners however Prestwick managed to clear the danger. In the last ten minutes of the game as Ayr started to tire, Prestwick put the match beyond doubt, scoring three more goals.
