Irvine Thistle v Ayr United
This game was played in driving rain and hurling wind. Irvine’s physical style suffocated the game and broke up the play. Ayr had a goal disallowed in the first half for a hand ball in the build up to the goal. Ayr pressed Irvine back into their own half and managed to win a number of corners, however, Irvine got plenty of numbers behind the ball and limited Ayr’s opportunities to shoot.
In the second half Irvine came into the game more and made it an even contest. Ayr had one chance through Chantelle Templeton but she was not able to convert, missing at the near post. Ayr played the better football, however Irvine managed frustrated Ayr and the game ended in a stalemate.
