Academy 13s v Inverness 13s
Ayr United started their second game of the season realising the level they are now playing when they faced a strong Inverness side at Belmont Academy reports Declyn Cooper (pictured).
The game started with Inverness dominating possession and creating some good chances. The first goal of the game came for the visitors after there was a lack of communication within the Ayr defence. However this goal didn’t harm Ayr’s confidence and instead it spurred them on to try and organise themselves in the manner that they were taught midweek at training.
The second period started with the Ayr boys desperate to get going but it was Inverness who struck first. However Ayr got a foothold in the game and after some great work from back to front and good vision, young midfielder, Gabe Skeoch struck to score Ayr’s first goal of the season, with a fine finish down to the keepers right. This goal did wonders for Ayr and from then on in, their football was sublime as the boys put all their effort into playing with confidence and flair.
The third period begun and Ayr just grew into the game. The shape was kept, good football was being played and this followed with Ayr’s second goal. After some great football in midfield, a pass was then played from Antonio Sisi to trailist, Jay Convery and he showed some individual class to finish well. Inverness scored some more goals but this did not reflect on the performance. Youth football is about player development and today with that theory it was a winner for the Ayr boys.
