AUFA 12s make positive start to the season

Aberdeen 12s v AUFA 12s

Ayr United 12s set off at 7.30am on Saturday morning heading for Aberdeen. On arrival in Aberdeen the weather was glorious and there was a great buzz amongst the players as they looked forward to kicking off in their first game of the season.

The 12s have a squad of 20 and play 7-a-side games. The squad is split in to 2 teams and they play 2 games each. Each game lasts for 40mins.

Both Ayr teams started well and it was clear to see they were up against a very good and well organised Aberdeen. The boys played really well and conducted themselves brilliantly.

Ayr played some good football and passed the ball about well. They were rewarded with a few goals throughout the games. The goals were scored by Joe Barker (2), Aiden Bradford (1) and James Maxwell (1). Both Goal keepers (Logan Pipe & Jamie Walker) were also in great form and made some wonderful saves throughout the match.

Ayr had to deal with an experienced Aberdeen and also the scorching sun which took its toll towards the end of the games. However Ayr moved the ball about well and both teams worked together in trying to get the ball back.

After the game Ayr United 12s coach Shaun Ferrie Said “All the boys played well and I’m pleased with how the boys played in stages of the game. The great thing is there was lots of positives to take from the match. Also there is lots to work on to take in to the next match. From this experience it has allowed me to see the standard that is out there and will allow me to work on things at the training ground and make sure the boys can develop and improve. It was a very exciting experience and the boys made it that more enjoyable as their behaviour and attitude was superb.”
