U15s Perform well at Lennoxtown

FIXTURE: CELTIC (15′s) V AUFA (15’s)

 1st PERIOD DETAILS

Ayr travelled to Lennoxtown early on Sunday morning to take on one of the leading sides at u15s level in the country. In the first period Ayr were up for the challenge, playing some good football and more than matching their opponents. Celtic opened the scoring after 10 minutes when their striker punished a defensive lapse. However Ayr soon levelled when a period of good play allowed the ball to be played into Jai Holland (pictured) who turned his man held the ball up and intelligently squared for Craig McGuffie  to coolly side foot the ball past the advancing keeper.

2nd PERIOD DETAILS

In the second period Celtic regained the lead when a good cross from the left hand side was finished from the edge of the six yard box. Celtic then went on to score another three goals in this period. However Ayr will be bit disappointed that they didn’t make Celtic work harder for their goals during the second period.

3RD PERIOD DETAILS

It was a much better performance from Ayr again in the 3rd period. However Celtic did complete the scoring when their striker broke through two challenges to fire home. Ayr created a couple of chances of their own at the death but they unfortunately just couldn’t force them home.

All in all it was a big improvement from last week by the Ayr lads who all put in a good shift. The Ayr boys should take a lot out of this game as they look forward to the visit of Aberdeen to Belmont Academy in their first Performance fixture of the season next weekend.
