As a registered Scottish charity, Ayr United Football Academy has always found the need to source outside donations and grants in order to continue funding the further progress of the young footballers in our Talented Young Footballers Programme.

With seven boys’ teams and four girl’s teams training and playing on a regular basis throughout the year, it now costs well over £100,000 to fund the Academy on a year on year basis. With the emergence of under 11’s and 12’s this season thanks to attaining Scottish FA Performance Status, we now have in the region of 200 players within our ranks so the need to find new and additional funding is at an all-time high.
One of the easiest and most widely recognised manners of donations is player sponsorship and at £75 per player per season, it really is a cheap and effective way to help grow the Academy whilst knowing that your donation is helping to push through the next generation of Ayr United player.
After seeing so many of the Academy players break into the senior squad this season, it’s easy to see why the Academy system is such a worthwhile environment for these players to grow as players and also why this is the way forward for a club like Ayr United.
Bobby McLatchie, Alan Murdoch, Jackson Longridge, Robbie Crawford, Darren McGill, Aaron Wylie and Mark Shankland have all been recent additions to the senior squad but add in Roddy Paterson, Ross Robertson and Jonathan Tiffoney and you’ll see that without the AUFA, Ayr United would need to be spending more money and resources elsewhere in their attempt to fill squad places so the benefits are there for everyone to see.
Without player and team sponsorship, these breakthroughs may not have been made available to these young players and from everyone at the Academy, we thank you for your kind donations and support in helping to further the careers of these young men into professional footballers.
