Ayr United v Dumfries
Ayr were on the attack straight from the first whistle and set the tone for the match with their first passage of play. Amy Miller played a give and go with both Cobi Welsh and then Danielle Nicholson before unleashing a curling shot into the corner of the net. Straight from the restart Ayr pressed Dumfries into losing possession in their own half and Amy picked up the ball before scoring to make it 2-0. Ayr kept pressing well as a team throughout, forcing mistakes all over the park from Dumfries. Dumfries made a rare attack in the first half however some excellent defending from Rose Donald stopped the attack. Emma Robertson then made it 3-0 shortly before half time.
Ayr’s first real chance of the second half came from a free kick just outside the box, however Cobi’s shot hit the woodwork. The rest of the game was all going in the one direction with Ayr creating attack after attack to which the next three attempts all led to goals, these coming from Cobi, Danielle and Amy. The girls worked up until the final whistle and went onto hit the woodwork another three times before Amy wrapped up the game with her fourth of the day.

Andy McMath expressed his delight afterwards stating “I am delighted with the girls hunger, attitude and commitment today and they got what they deserved. Passing was what we worked on in training during the week and this showed today with the girls knocking the ball about for fun and it was a delight to watch. We will need to keep focused and look to maintain this level every week both in training and games.”
