Ayr United v Irvine
Ayr were looking to make it four wins on the bounce in a local derby against Irvine. The girls looked determined straight from the first whistle and within the first two minutes scored through Hannah Connelly who converted an inswinging cross from Hannah McSorley. It wasn’t long before Hannah Mcsorley got the goal she deserved, just moments after hitting the post, drilling home a shot into the bottom corner from a wide angle. Irvine had a chance to get on the scoresheet when they were awarded an indirect free kick in the Ayr box but Megan Cannell pulled off a great save to tip the shot over the bar. This seemed to make Ayr all the more eager to keep piling the pressure on and in the remaining ten minutes of the half scored another three goals these coming from Emma Robertson, Rhiannon Connelly and Danielle Nicholson.
Half Time
Ayr United 5 Irvine 0
The second half was played in the same manner as the first with Ayr continuing to dominate in every aspect of the game. The girls didn’t let the scoreline change the way they played and they continued to pass the ball around nicely. The next goal came from Amy Miller when a pass down the line allowed her to out muscle her defender before finishing in style with a great shot that went into the roof of the net. It wasn’t long after Emma got herself a second goal with her traditional run, picking the ball up from deep and running at the opposition before unleashing her thunderous shot which left the keeper with no chance. Ayr never took their foot off the gas and in the final ten minutes of the half scored another three goals with Hannah Mcsorley getting her second of the day and Amy Miller getting a quick double (her hat trick). All credit to Irvine who kept trying to go forward when they could looking for a goal and with the last kick of the ball got their reward.

Andy McMath afterwards said “The girls today should be proud of themselves with that performance. A couple of girls were asked to play out of position today and they put in a great shift. The movement today both on and off the ball was first class and made it tough for the opposition to handle and this was rewarded with some goals, and if it wasn’t for the Irvine keeper being on form it would have been more. The hard work the girls are putting in at training is starting to show in games so hopefully we
