Academy 13s learn valuable lesson at Murray Park

The Academy 13s travelled to Glasgow to take on Rangers at Murray Park on Sunday morning. Ayr started the game brightly with their new 4-4-3 formation and the boys competed well up until the first goal and then Rangers, who have been together for 3 years, began to dominate.

After some time to reflect for the coaches, the Ayr boys went out for the second period to try and play the ball from the back and to their credit managed it well. However at times the Ayr boys were guilty of being too soft in the challenge. As the period moved on Ayr got back into the game and the boys began to battle harder and gave as good as they got using the ball well.
The 3rd period saw Lewis Grant (pictured) move into centre back to allow play to begin from him. He spearheaded the play and allowed the midfield to show and gain more space. The boys learnt some valuable lessons about playing football from the back and it will only help in their development.
