Annual Stewarton Community Sports Hub Walking Football Cup

AUFA Walking Football playing Cup Matches at Stewarton

Ayr United Football Academy entered 2 teams in the Annual Stewarton Community Sports Hub Walking Football Cup.

The Academy’s over 65s team playing as Ayr United 2 had a successful afternoon by topping the final league standings with a points total of 11 and a goal difference of 8.

No goals were conceded on the day by the Academy side although the majority of games were very close run affairs.

First up for the Ayr men was a ‘derby match’ with Ayr United 1 (Over 50s) and a hard fought encounter resulted in a goalless draw.

Second game in Ayr defeated North West (2) by 3 goals to nil with Thomson, Ferrie and Crawford (pen) the goalscorers.

Game three v North West (1) saw a very close game finish with a 1-0 win for the Ayr side and a goal from McBride.

Game 4 v Cumnock was always going to be a decider and close affair which it ultimately proved with another goalless scoreline.
Ayr therefore entered the last game v Stewarton requiring a draw to secure 1st place. This proved to be the best performance of the afternoon with the Ayr team running out 4-0 winners as well as lifting the Cup. Scorers in this one were McBride with a hat trick and Crawford.
Ayr United 2 :
Billy Bentley, Joe Leonard, Gordon Ferrie, David Reid, Jim Thomson, John Crawford, Harry Harvie, Raymond Pattison and Jimmy McBride.
David Watson and Peter Ohler

It should also be said that Ayr United 1 also acquitted themselves well on the day with some good performances.

Ayr United 2 : Stuart Galloway, Brian Pitt, Brian Connelly, Jim Smith, Scott Campbell, Drew Boyd, Jim Eagleshan, Derek McCabe, Des O’Hare.
