Sunday 7th May 2017 Ayr United U11s Girls hosted East Kilbride FC Blues in the South West U11s league.
Ayr had a promising start to this game as they almost immediately went 1-0 up through a Karlii Kennedy (pictured) strike.
However the lead wasn’t to last long, as the game swung in favour of the away side very quickly, as they scored two quick goals in succession to go in front.
This then forced the game to become a battle for both sides as they competed fiercely.
East Kilbride grabbed another goal to extend their lead but were soon pegged back as Kennedy once again found the back of the net.
Ayr created some exciting chances to make the game their own with shots striking the post and crossbar. United were awarded a corner which was cleared off the goal line followed by a shot which beat the goalkeeper but was cleared off the line by the EKFC defender.
Jenna Keenan and Eve McKenna combined well together to become the driving force for Ayr, as they pushed forward well, while Samantha Hay was reliable in the middle of the park to break down the EK attacks.
Ayr’s defence of Evie Hunter and Beth Paterson remained sharp throughout the game making well timed tackles as Amy Stevenson, Ayr United’s goalkeeper, was called in to action in a one on one situation and did well to prevent the away side scoring.
As the teams started to tire in the dying stages of the match, a few more goals hit the back of the Ayr net, rounding off a game of missed chances for Ayr.
