Community Football Centre News – 11th February

Last week’s theme across our Community Football Centres was Finishing. As usual this is the session that most kids love as it means scoring lots of goals! The coaches have reported back that there were some brilliant goals scored using lots of different techniques.

Well done to all!

The centre nominated for selecting the Star Player for the week was the class at Girvan Primary on Tuesday. A young boy called Luke impressed the coaches and is this week’s winner of the Star Player Award. Coach Bobby said ‘Luke showed unbelievable technique throughout the session, the youngest in the class keeps his head down during the drills focussing on what he has to do. During the games he comes alive scoring goals for fun’. Bobby also said ‘I have been impressed with Luke’s skills since he first arrived at the Mini-Kickers. His technique and composure is leaps and bounds ahead of the average 5 year-old’

Well done Luke!

This week’s theme across all of our centres will be Small Sided Games.

Here’s what Ayr United hero ‘The Moff’ had to say about Small Sided Games:

‘Playing in small sided games is a brilliant way to practice your control, keeping possession and creativity. You get loads of touches of the ball and are under pressure all the time. You really have to be composed and come up with ways of creating space. It’s something that we will do in about every training session.

Get along to one of the AUFA Football Centres and get involved!’

So get yourselves along to one of our centres and learn to be as calm on the ball as Moff!

Details of the centres can be found here.
