Community Football Centre News – 18th February

Last week’s theme across our Community Football Centres was Small Sided Games. This is always popular as it’s just turn up and play football with your mates! You get to put into practice all the skills that you have been working on. The coaches have reported that they loved watching the games and have seen improvement across the board.

Well done to all!

The centre nominated for selecting the Star Player for the week was class at Belmont Academy on Friday. This week’s winner of the Star Player Award was Harry McGinn. Coach Stevie said ‘Harry comes to Belmont every week and always gives 100% in the small sided games. He is a team player and always looks to pass the ball to set his teammates up. On Friday, Harry scored a great goal with his weaker Right foot.’

Well done Harry!

This week’s theme across all of our centres will be Passing.

Here’s what Ayr United’s midfield maestro Robbie Crawford had to say about Passing:

‘Passing is football for me. If you can pass well as a team, then you’ll be hard to beat and will create chances to score. Playing a great pass that opens up a defence is a great feeling. Mastering the basics of passing when you are young will stay with you and help you be a great asset to a team. The coaches at the Community Centres will teach you these basics and give you a platform to practice them in game situations!’

So get yourselves along to any of our centres and learn to pass like Robbie!
