Community Football Centre News

Last week’s theme across our Community Football Centres was Passing. The coaches were very impressed with the hard work, attitude and talent on display by all of our young players.

Well done to all!

The centre nominated for selecting the Star Player for the week was the Citadel session on Monday. We are delighted to announce that the first ever winner of the AUFA Star Player Award was Coby! Normally a tricky dribbler, he really took to the theme of passing and altered his game and showed some great passing ability. His Dad said “His boys’ club team had been working on passing and they were starting to realise that they do need to pass as well to work in a team!”

Well done Coby – you are a Star!

This week’s theme across all of our centres will be Dribbling.

Here’s what Ayr United star winger, Declan McDaid, had to say about dribbling:

‘Taking players on is one of the best bits of football. Beating your opponent and creating scoring chances makes you feel great and it’s what the supporters love to watch!

To be the best at dribbling you need to have a ball at your feet as much as possible when you are young. The AUFA Community Football Centres are a great place to start learning. The coaches will show you the tricks and how they are done, you’ll get loads of time with a ball at your feet and the chance to practice the skills against your mates, and the coaches!’

So get yourselves along to one of our centres and learn to dribble like Declan!

Details of the centres can be found here.
