It was another fantastic result for Ayr United Football Academy last week as they discovered they were successful in a bid for funding from the Henry Duncan Awards. Whilst Choose Life, the partnership for suicide prevention locally had initially provided £20,000 of financial support to fund a 20 week programme, the continued existence of this vital programme needed just that boost. The project has restarted after a Winter break and referrals are improving with a consistent group of 14 adults attending the programme.
Explained Community Projects Manager, Roddy MacDonald, “This was a bid worked up between Tony Bryson and myself with a telephone interview taking place in early December with Sarah Littlewood of Henry Duncan. The funds ensure employment, engagement and activity for a very worthwhile section of our community. It’s a vital part of our work that then whole community feel part of the Academy and when the hard work our community coaches do gets recognised like this it is just fantastic.”
