On Sunday 3rd March, Ayr United Reserves take on Livingston in the SPFL Challenge Cup Final. The game is being played at the Tony Macaroni Arena in Livingston with a 3pm kick-off. Admission price is £5.
This is the first Reserve Challenge Cup Final since the Scottish FA’s project brave brought back competitive reserve team football and sees two unbeaten teams come face to face on Sunday. The format of the cup was two groups, one with five teams and another with four teams, play each other once with the team topping the group, qualifying for the final.
Ayr were drawn in the group of five teams and played Airdrieonians, Albion Rovers, East Kilbride and Queens Park. Ayr finished the group winning all four games and scoring 18 goals in the process (results listed below). Livingston also managed to win all their group games.
This should be a very competitive game that sees a SPFL Premier League v SPFL Championship club match up for the final.
