Ayr United Ladies were back in action

Ayr United Ladies were back in action after a two week break, and came out of the blocks quickly against a spirited Pollok side, on what was a perfect sunny day for football. For the first ten minutes Ayr were finding their rhythm and sizing up the park, with both Caron McIntyre (pictured and sponsored by Barefoot Photography)Caron McIntyre with barefoot and Rachel Scott coming close to opening the scoring.
Once Ayr had found their stride, they began to take control of the game, and it was Scott who made the breakthrough on twenty two minutes, finishing low to the goalkeeper’s left after a pinpoint pass from Hannah Taysum.
Pollok pushed to draw back level but Ayr United goalkeeper Natalie Docherty made a diving save to the left in order to successfully block the strike.
Scott then doubled Ayr’s lead heading into the break with a superb solo goal as she skipped past three defenders to dip the goalkeeper.

Half time: Pollok United 0-2 Ayr United

The second half began well for Ayr as they continued to be dominant in the Pollok half and were awarded a penalty five minutes in when Ayr captain Jodie Barbour was taken down inside the box. Taysum coolly stepped up to take and sent the ball hard and low to the goalkeepers right, making it three goals to the good for United.
Shortly after, it was another goal, as Ayr won a free kick in a dangerous area, the high looping ball from McIntyre connected with Scott inside the box to finish for Ayr’s fourth.  Scott wasn’t finished scoring there through, when she dinked the ball through the goalkeeper’s legs after a neat cross in from Robyn Cairns, making it 0-5 in Ayr’s favour.
Pollok kept their heads up, as they tried to get back into the game, and their perseverance paid off when they capitalised on space inside the Ayr box to get onto the scoresheet.
Ayr responded well though as Masterton transported the ball down the right, to cross into the awaiting Barbour, who tidily finished .
The final action of the match was another goal for the visiting team when Barbour provided the assist for Scott to tap the ball in at the far post.
