Walking Footballers in Spain -Judgement Day & Pain in Spain!!!

Day 4 Salou Spanish Masters -Judgement Day & Pain in Spain!!!

Salou Futbol Stadium

After a light breakfast the squad boarded the team bus and travelled the mile or so to the Salou Futbol Centre for the Plate Trophy Matches. With Norwich dropping out this left Ayr with 3 fixtures in front of them – Kettering, Southampton and Cove.
First up were Kettering who it has to be said didn’t need to break sweat in a comprehensive 3-0 win. Very disappointing performance from the Honest Men who just weren’t at it from start to finish.
Southampton fronted up next against the Ayr side who once again failed to show any real form and succumbed to a relatively straightforward 2-0 reversal.
Cove were to be Ayr’s last opponents and following a 1-0 win against the Somerset Parkers picked up the Plate Trophy.
In fairness Ayr did find some kind of form in the closing game but overall a very disappointing end to the tournament.
Following the tournament end Ayr received their participation medals at the Official Presentation. Walking Football Presentation medals
A superbly organised tournament by Mick Quinn and Tony Grace who have worked extremely hard to produce the inaugural Spanish Masters Walking Football Tournament.
Following a light lunch at the Futbol Centre the squad head over to the Mucky Duck to watch some TV football.

Quick dash into Salou tonight for a refreshment in Danny’s Bar. Then off to a superb Thai Restaurant for our evening  meal.
Nice relaxed atmosphere and although the squad are quieter tonight there is still the normal ‘craic’ between the team. Always a good sign.
Tomorrow should provide a more restful day as our evening  flight doesn’t leave Barcelona until just before 10.00pm. Still an opportunity for divulging some further capers tomorrow!!!
Day 5
As we relax now having a coffee before travelling to Barcelona Airport for our flight home. A big thanks to all the squad members for all their efforts and camaraderie during the 4 days in Spain. Thanks also go to Jim Kirk and David Watson  who helped with organisation of the tour. Thanks to Ayr United for use of our strips during the games. Finally thanks to all for reading the blog. Here’s to the next tour hopefully in Portugal in October.
