Portugal Day 3 Part 2
Following the first match reversal against Tivera things initially went from bad to worse as the team found itself 4-0 down at half time against fellow countrymen Carnoustie Panmure.
However, a hugely improved second half performance saw the Honest Men work hard to secure a final score of 1-4. Taking positives from the match was certainly winning the second half 1-0 against a good side.
Onwards and upwards they say and that proved to be the case in the third and final group game against Forth Valley. A well organised Ayr side fought hard to secure their first point of the tournament in a goalless draw.
It would be fair to say the age differential playing in the over 50s tournament proved to be the most decisive factor out of the morning’s games. Ayr with 2 players in their 70s and another 2 players 65 and over proved to be just too much in conditions touching 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
However, the squad were in good spirits over lunch and looking forward to the final day of the tournament in Saturday.
