This week the Ayr United Strollers walking group tried a new route through Rozelle Park in surprisingly sunny conditions given the recent wet weather.
Following the 100 year anniversary of the Armistice last Sunday, it was fitting that the walk took the group via the tree carvings which are a haunting memorial to those who fought and died in the first world war.
Many of the group had no idea the sculptures were there and were thouroughly impressed by details in the carvings.
Thanks to our very own Jim Ireland who wore a pedometer on the route and clocked over 3500 steps on the route.
If you would like to attend our walks, the group meet every Tuesday 10.30am at Somerset Park.
