Finn Enjoys Qualification with Scotland
Finn Update from Scotland 17’s Matches
Day 7 – Monday 29th October – Scotland v Cyprus
On the morning of the Cyprus game I found out I would be starting the game again. I can’t describe what a great feeling it is to represent my county in our first two qualifiers. The game was again played in 26-degree heat and the things got even tougher when we had a man sent off early in the first half. Going into the second half we were a man down and a goal down, but we stayed together as a team and battled for a much-deserved draw. This meant we only needed a point to qualify.

Days 8 – Tuesday 30th October
The day after the Cyprus game was a day off and a chance to see a bit of Cyprus. In the morning we headed out to Coral Bay Beach and the weather couldn’t have been any better. The squad then all had lunch together and enjoyed the rest of the day before heading to bed early.

Day 9 – Wednesday 31st October
The day before the big game against Switzerland we trained twice so we were prepared for the final game.

Day 10 – Thursday 1st November
The final group had arrived and even though I wasn’t starting the game I was still proud at the number of minutes I had played in the previous games; however, I did come on at half time. The game finished 1-1 against Switzerland meaning we qualified to go through to the elite round.

I am very proud to be part of this great bunch of boys and even more so to have qualified.
