August Newsletter
Start of the Month
Our Star of the Month is Jim Kirk. Jim Kirk is a regular attendee at our Walking Football sessions and Football Memories. At the end of June, Jim celebrated his 80th birthday and he played his first games as an octogenarian alongside his son and his grandson. At a recently walking football session, Jim scored 12 goals! We hope you had a lovely birthday Jim and we enjoyed getting to celebrate with you at Walking Football.

Summer Camps
We had a fantastic 7 weeks of Summer in various locations across South Ayrshire!
We ran 7 weeks of our Holiday Camps at Prestwick Academy, Queen Margaret Academy, Belmont Academy, Marr College and Maybole Community Campus.
We ran 3 weeks of our Extra Time Summer Camps which were attended by children from our partner schools in Ayr North. The children had access to a number of different activities such as football, dancing, arts and crafts and multi sports. They also were provided each day with breakfast, snack and lunch.
We were able to run free to attend camps for 4 weeks in Girvan thanks to funding we received from Carrick Futures (administered by Foundation Scotland), Killgallioch Community Fund and Cash for Kids.
Thanks to funding we receive from ICF, we were able to run free to attend Summer Roadshows in villages across South Ayrshire.

John Clark Memorial Walking Football Tournament
On Sunday 13th July, we hosted the John Clark Memorial Walking Football Tournament at Shoot Soccer. Congratulations to Somerset Strollers, well deserved winners of the John Clark Memorial Trophy. It was a great day, of which John would have been proud, bringing together over 60 players from our weekly games sessions, many of whom have been playing together for most of the 10 years of the programme’s existence. And all played in a great spirit, within the mixed age and ability teams format. A day to remember!
Thank you to Shoot Soccer for sponsoring the event and hosting us at their fantastic venue and to the Shoot Soccer staff for looking after us throughout the day. Thank you to Ruth for presenting the trophies. Ruth continues the Clark family contribution by being heavily involved in Walking Football and Football for Life activity on a weekly basis.

Bag Packing at Tesco
We were invited along to Tesco Ayr by Community Champion, Jane McAdam to carry out some bag packing for a few hours on the afternoon of Saturday, 2nd August 2025. Together the young lads along with Rosie, Stuart and Julie, raised a whopping £412.55. Thanks to everyone who took the time to stop, have a blether and pop a donation into the collection buckets.
