On Sunday afternoon, Ayr United Under 16s travelled to the Tony Macaroni Arena for their CAS U16 Performance Games Programme fixture against Livingston. The Honest Men were comfortable winners in a game which included 4 goals from McRoberts in the first half and a second half hat trick from Hay, who has just signed with the team after a successful trial period.

Ayr took the lead on the 24^th minute when Cullen made his way past 2 Livingston players and found his way into the box. He played the ball to Hyslop, the Under 15 player who was playing up a year, who slotted it past the keeper and into the net. Just after Hyslop’s goal went in there was a 4-minute delay to the game due to fireworks being set off outside the Tony Macaroni Arena. 1 minute into the restart and Ayr doubled their lead thanks to a ball played into the box by Fraser that was headered into the net by McRoberts. Fraser and McRoberts linked up again 10 minutes later when Fraser played a corner from the right into the box and McRoberts headered it in at the back post. McRoberts thought he had his hat trick a minute later however his goal was disallowed as the referee deemed that the striker was offside. However, the striker completed his hat trick with 38 minutes on the clock when goal scorer Hyslop crossed the ball into the 6-yard box and McRoberts tapped it into the net. He got his fourth and final goal of the game 5 minutes after the completion of his hat trick when Fraser played a corner in from the right and McRoberts was at the back post to header it into the net. A minute before half time, Cullen got his name on the score sheet, Cullen received the ball from Milliken and took a shot from the edge of the box which sailed into the top left corner. Ayr made a substitution at half time when Hyslop, who had played for the Under 15s the day before, was replaced by Allan. Hay thought he had a goal himself 2 minutes into the second half when his effort hit the underside of the crossbar however it didn’t cross the line. 4 minutes later and Hay got his goal, Cullen dribbled into the box on the right-hand side, but his effort was denied at the front post by the Livingston keeper, but quick-thinking Hay was there to tap in the rebound. 9 minutes into the second half and Ayr made their second substitution of the game when Ferguson replaced goal scorer McRoberts. With 57 minutes on the clock, D Craig took a quick throw in to McClymont who drove down the left wing and crossed the ball into the box however his effort went straight into the right top corner of the goal. A fantastic goal from the left back that was assisted by quick thinking from D Craig to take the throw in as soon as he could. In the 72^nd minute Hay got his second goal of the game when his effort from 20 yards on the left went into the top right-hand corner of the net after the Livingston keeper got a slight fist to it but was unable to keep it out. Hay completed his hat trick 10 minutes thanks to a McClymont cross assisting the hat trick hero.

A great experience for the Honest Men who got to play in a Premiership stadium, and they made the most of the experience with a fantastic performance and plenty goals.
