On Sunday afternoon, Ayr United Under 16s travelled to Perth for their CAS U16 league game against St Johnstone. The Honest Men suffered a 3-2 defeat as goals from Fraser and McEwan were cancelled out by a late winner from St Johnstone.

The Honest Men took the lead after 19 minutes, Ayr United were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box. Fraser took the free kick and curled the ball over the St Johnstone wall and into the left-hand side of the net. Ayr United had two more great chances in the first half to extend their lead however the cross bar denied both attempts. The first saw Milliken effort from the edge of the box hit the top of the crossbar and the second saw the crossbar rattled by a McRoberts header. Ayr United made a substitution at half time which saw R Craig replaced by McClymont, a straight swap at the left back position. Twenty seconds into the second half and Cullen also fell victim to the crossbar. The winger made a great run down the right wing however his effort on goal was denied by the woodwork. The Honest Men got their second goal in the 49^th minute. Kyle Fraser turned provider as he played a corner into the box and McEwan tapped it in at the back post, the centre back found himself in a great position which paid off as it doubled the lead for Ayr. In the 55^th minute, St Johnstone grabbed a goal back when a corner was played into the box and St Johnstone number 7 scored at the back post. Ayr United then made their second substitution of the game when Allan was replaced by Hislop. In the 57^th minute, Ayr thought Cullen had got his goal, the winger made his way past several St Johnstone players and his effort hit of the inside of the left-hand post however it bounced back out, not crossing the line. St Johnstone came close to scoring again however two brilliant saves from Ecrepont ensured that Ayr went into the final 20 minutes of the game with the lead. St Johnstone got their equaliser in the 76^th minute when their number 9 took a shot from around 25 yards which beat Ecrepont low in the corner. Ayr United made their 3^rd and final substitution of the game in the 77^th minute when Linton replaced Milliken, the substitution marked Linton return to the pitch after suffering a period on the side-lines due to injury. Ayr United were handed a massive blow in the 81^st minute when the ball was played through to St Johnstone number 23 in the box, and he slotted the winner into the bottom corner to give St Johnstone the 3-2 win over Ayr United.

A number of United chances being denied by the woodwork and a disappointing final 15 minutes saw the Honest Men suffer a narrow defeat in Perth.
