On Tuesday evening, Ayr United Under 16s travelled to Murray Park to take on Rangers in the CAS U16 Trophy Section.

Rangers took an early lead when they were awarded a penalty with just 50 seconds on the clock, Rangers number 9 stepped up to take the penalty and scored. The Honest Men were forced into an early substitution as Milliken was forced off due to injury following a tackle and he was replaced by McArthur. Both teams created chances in the first half with McRoberts getting into Rangers box a few times and Ecrepont making several saves, including a double save in the 40^th minute, however Rangers went into half time with a 1-0 lead. Rangers got another early goal as they scored a minute into the second half thanks to a great goal from their number 2 as he fired the ball into the net from 20 yards out. Ayr United made their second substitution of the game in the 53^rd minute when D Craig replaced Hay. Rangers number 9 scored again in the 56^th minute when an Ayr United attack was halted at the edge of the box and Rangers counter attacked quickly and it was finished off from a tight angle by the number 9. Rangers scored again 4 minutes later when a ball was played over the top and was met by Rangers number 5 who slotted it into the net. In the 69^th minute, Rangers number 9 completed his hattrick as the ball was played over the top, he met it at the edge of the box and his strike found the back of the net. 2 minutes later and Rangers got their last goal of the game as Rangers number 15 made his way into the box and slotted the ball into the net.

A disappointing result for the Honest Men against elite opposition.
